The food is expertly prepared by chef Rob Gill, using fresh, high quality ingredients sourced in the West Country and the variety of dishes offered on the MENU will guarantee to suit any taste & budget. The WINE LIST has been selected to compliment the cuisine on offer, and the friendly, helpful staff are more than willing to offer guidance on the right wine to choose for your meal. Steps Bistro has a relaxed, warm atmosphere perfect for an intimate meal or a get-together with friends and is sure to provide an unforgettable dining experience.

Steps Bistro was purchased in May 2007 by Chef Robert Gill. Originating from Guernsey, In the Channel Islands, Rob was introduced to catering at an early age when his parents bought an hotel where he started work as a waiter at the age of 11, also the age when he decided that a career as a chef was what he aspired to.

Rob is no stranger to the business, training with German, Swiss and Austrian chefs and then branching into business at the age of 21, managing the luxurious Royal Guernsey Golf Club Catering Franchise & moving to Mullion Golf Club in Cornwall 1994, then leaving Cornwall in 1997 for a year to travel though Europe to Italy and Sardinia, then back to Gloucestershire in 1998 & Kent in 1999.

Rob returned to the South West in 2007 with Steps as a new venture. We are now celebrating 4 successful years trading.

The new SCORES ON THE DOORS Hygiene rating is being implemented throughout Torbay & Steps is pleased to anounce it rates at the top with 5 out of 5 for food hygiene.
